money making in runescape
By now you should have figured out what item you personally like to sell and trade, and know the high and low prices of what this item sales for. In this next example I will tell you how I started a feather business, (I chose feathers to start with because this is how I first started making my money and I know this Runescape item (as far as how to push it) better than any other.
This plan will work with any item in the game providing that is has a generally demand. Some examples would be logs, iron, coal, steel, food items, etc. Please note that I am a member, therefore selling is a little eas ier since I can post the items I'm selling in the official Jagex Runescape Forums. F2P's may have better results with an Iron, Coal or Steel business.
The first step in creating your Runescape business is to decide how much you are willing to pay your workers.
How I figure this price is to go by the average price that the item sales for, and pay a little above it, but still below the high (the price that you will sell the item for.) In my feather business I currently pay 6 gp per each feather. I chose 6 because the current value of feathers in the free worlds is 5 gp each.
Paying above the "street" price allows workers to receive more gp from me ( the buyer) than anyone else, (most people are offering to buy for 1-3 gp, because they do not know that you can sell them for 10 gp to members.) This keeps the sellers/workers happy and also keeps them from selling to other players.
And as you have learned in Chapter 1, feathers can sell for 10 gp each to members. (If you are a free player view the FORUMS to find buyers!) This means that I currently profit 4gp per feather, which adds up very quickly when you are multiplying by 10,000 or higher!
Establish a Payment Plan
The second step is to lay out some kind of payment plan for your workers, basically when they will receive there paycheck. I currently pay my workers once a week, every Friday (unless I will not be able to be online, for some reason.) I have created a website for my workers, so that they can check when payments will be made.
The third step is to hire workers! This may sound hard, but trust me you can find many very quickly! Everyone is looking for money. The best way to find workers is to go the Varrock Bank and simply type "Hiring Workers, Pays Well, Add me to find out details!" When a person mes- sages you then give them the info. The other spot to hire workers is of course the chicken farm (for feathers) Northeast of Lumbridge.
becoming powerful in runescape
Here's an easy guide on how to train your combat skills in Runescape. Enjoy the tips!
Start out by fighting cows or chickens, both are weak and will build up your experience. Collect the hides and feathers to make some money too!
Next, fight goblins. There are different level goblins so fight the ones you feel most comfortable with. Collect the loot they drop!
Next step is fighting wizards. This can get tricky because of the spells they cast. They can hit pretty hard but they're a good way to train
Go for thieves next. They are sometimes challenging but can drop some pretty good rewards!
Finally fight guards. You can fight guards all they way up to level 75. Guards drop some pretty good loot and are usually pretty easy enemies. They have enough health that you get some pretty good experience killing them. It's also very easy to find them since they are in every town.
When training in Runescape remember that results don't come overnight. You will need to work hard and be persistent in order to see your character become mightier.
item of runescape
Unfortunately, to be able to obtain items worth millions, or even thousands, you have to build skills, and you’ll need… coins! Everyone has to start somewhere, and the best way to start is by getting free stuff and than selling it. You can even save money if you just know where to look to get what you need for free.
Well, hopefully you won’t have to look too far. At least this article will make it easier for you to find ways to get free stuff.
Beg
Though this is the lowest thing to do out of the ways, it can work if you do it right. Begging requires patience, and the appearance of being poor, or a noob. Either one will be sympathized, usually. Here are some tips on begging:
Dress in noob clothes and if you are a very low level, act like you’re new to the game. (being a level 3 works best)
Act like you just died. It happens to everyone. Say you lost almost everything.
The best begging spot is Lumbridge, because that’s where newbies begin and where dead people start all over again.
Find a world that has a good amount of people, but it’s not overcrowded with newbies/beggars
Don’t spam. Plea for money or stuff once a minute.
Always accept whatever is given to you and say thanks! If it’s junk than just sell it at a general store.
Find Drop Parties
A drop party is a simple idea. A group of people, or one person, drops random crap on the ground. What’s an even simpler idea is how to get free stuff out of it! The types of items dropped in a drop party vary in value, but almost all of the time they are useful and can be sold for money! Drop parties are extremely easy to find: go to an overpopulated, crowded, bank. Just be in a fairly populated world and head over to Varrock, you’ll have no problem finding a crowded bank there!
If you don’t feel like fighting or working for free stuff, than just find drop parties. Drop parties aren’t made for everyone though, it requires a bit of time, patience and skill. Here are some tips to help you get the most out of drop parties:
You’ll be looking for someone yelling “Drop Party!!!” or something like that. If you find someone that says that, STALK THEM.
Once you have a target, watch the ground beneath them at all times. You have to be quick if you want to be able to get something.
Stand in the same spot as them. That way you don’t have to run across the room to try and be the first one to pick up what they dropped.
When you see something hit the ground, click click click! Chances are you are competing with other people, and the person that dropped stuff dropped more than one thing.
Kill
Ah, you didn’t think I would forget the most gruesome way of all to get free stuff, did ya? You can’t go through Runescape without killing SOMETHING. Fact: Everything you kill in Runescape drops something. Even if it’s just some bones or feathers. (People buy those too, you know?)
There are two types of things you can kill to get stuff for free: Computers or other players.
Computers- I don’t literally mean computers running around Runescape. Anything that’s not controlled by another player, is just a free roaming CPU. Goblins, cows, dragons, farmers, are all CPUs. Most of them you can kill too. (Oh I wish I could kill Romeo…) It would take me forever to cover each type of CPU that you could kill and what they drop, so explore for yourself to see. If you are a low level/beginner, I recommend killing goblins. They roam all around Lumbridge, especially behind the General store. They are fairly easy to kill, and they drop really good beginner items, like bronze shields and swords, and goblin armor that sells for around 17 GP in the General store. Of course, as you become stronger and can fight harder creatures, they’ll drop more valuable items.Other Players- If you venture into the wilderness or other various parts that warns you you’re about to step into an area where other players can attack you, be careful. It’s a dangerous, hectic, place and the chances of being attacked out of nowhere and dying are great. In fact, you’ll probably be fired at within your first five steps upon entering the wilderness. You have to be strong, with a good range of fighting skills, heavily armored, and fast! If you decide to do this, bring lots of food with you, you’ll need it. The good thing about fighting other players is they’ll drop really good and valuable stuff, since you only keep three items when you die.
Get It Yourself!
The reason for having so many different types of skills you can work on is so that you can get what you need by getting it yourself. Need willows for fletching? Go cut down some willows! Need some food? Go fish or cook! Need armor? Well, go make it than! If you are rich and would prefer just to take the easy way out, than go ahead and buy the things you need. But, if you’re at the other end, you are going to need to get most of the things you need for free because you can’t afford it. If you are looking just to make money, than choose a skill that you like and are good at and do it. Whether it’s armor, arrows, wood, or food, you can sell it to other players for money.
Steal (Members Only)
If you’re a member, you should definitely spend some time working on your Thieving skill. You can steal stuff that you don’t normally find from CPU drops, but don’t want to spend money on it either. Things like wine, seeds, food and weapons. All useful things that you can either use for yourself or sell for money. Just be ready to fight the Guards that protect the stalls if they catch you!
See, there are plenty of ways to get free items on Runescape. You don’t have to pay for everything! If you want to be able to get around Runescape, than you are going to have to hunt for free items.
gold guide
Well for most it is a method of playing the game and working out how to make money by developing skills that can earn good amounts of Runescape money in comparison to the time invested. For others they have developed a keen sense of the Runescape markets and managed to provide a service of buying and selling major raw and processed materials that are in high demand and supply. This means of making Runescape gold is referred to as merchanting and loads of information about how to go about earning gold in this way can be found in free Runescape gold guides that are on many Runescape fan sites and forums. Even with the availability of free Runescape gold guides there are also many Runescape gold guides for sale on the internet, though from my experience none are really worth the money if you have been playing for a couple of months and have reviewed a few of the free guides to making Runescape gold on Runescape fan sites and forums.
Buying Cheap Runescape Gold
The increasing alternative that many Runescape players appear to be opting for is buying cheap Runescape gold from online gold selling stores. These Runescape gold sellers sell millions of Runescape gold for real world money. Whilst this is in breach of Jagex’s terms of use it hasn’t stopped the sale of Runescape gold from such stores continuing. According to many this industry of MMO gold selling, including games like Runescape, is now a multi-million dollar industry with an estimated half a billion dollars worth of sales for the 2005/2006 financial year.
Whilst I don’t support players buying Runescape gold, it is obviously a growing option but the big question of whether it is worth it is dependant on your position within life and in Runescape. I mean if you have a full or part time job and are looking to really start enjoying Runescape without spending the first few weeks of your Runescape career scrapping together a few thousand Runescape gold pieces to buy yourself iron amour; then for as little as $10 you could get yourself a million Runescape gold pieces and be well onto your way to really leveling some of those skills and building your own ability to earn Runescape gold via playing the game.
Alternatively if you are already a fairly experience player with a 100k in your bank, you might be well advise to look into some of the free Runescape gold making guides available to turn that 100k into a few million. Either way I’d probably properly research the ways of making Runescape gold from free fan sites and guide sites before I headed off to buy a Runescape millions guide or one like it.
Can You Make Runescape Gold by Buying Runescape Gold?
Now again whilst buying Runescape Gold is against Jagex’s terms of service, the are a number of individuals that I know of personally that have benefited greatly from investments in purchasing Runescape Gold for real world money. How? Well not so long ago they purchased a few million Runescape gold from a gold seller and purchased all the rares that they could afford then sat on their rares for a few months and sold them 9 months later for a HUGE real world money profit. There are little industries anywhere in the world that you can almost be certain of 300 – 400% return on your investment every passing year, but Runescape rare items are such an industry, without fail every year Runescape rare items have increased in value and with that increase so has there real world value, and with each Runescape million gold pieces being worth $5 - $10 in the real world market there have been people that I have literally made $1000’s from selling their Runescape items when they quit the game. You can’t get those sorts of returns on the stock market. So as some have already proved spending a little money in an investment is a great way to make a little money.
Please note that we don’t recommend doing this and there are some inherent uncertainties involved not to mention is against Runescape’s rules but that hasn’t stopped other from trying and actually making large amounts of Runescape Gold and real world dollars doing it.

Mining Guild
The Dwarven stronghold above the Mining guild serves merely for decoration, and has no real use. As this entrance leads directly into the guild, if you do not have level 60 mining when you try to go down one of the ladders, you will be stopped by a Dwarf. The other entrance to the guild (underground entrance), is also guarded by a Dwarf.
The Mining guild is often very crowded as it contains thirty-seven coal and five mithril rocks. It is a great place to buy coal in large and small amounts. For more information on this mine, visit the Dwarven Mines mining map.
legends' guild
At the lobby of the Legends' Guild, you will discover the totem pole that you received during the Legends' Quest. You will also find Radimus Erkle, leader of the Legends Guild. You can talk to him to start the While Guthix Sleeps quest. You will also find two staircases. There isn't much to do here, so head up one floor by using the stairs.
The totem pole on this floor is also used to recharge your bracelet of combat and Necklace of skills. The bracelet is used in teleporting to the Champion, Warrior and Ranging guilds as well as the Monastery. It also informs the wearer of their slayer totals for every tenth target they kill.

On the first floor (Picture), you will find a woman named Fionella. She takes care of the General Store in the Legends Guild.
On this floor, there are also a pair of ladders on each side of the room. There is also the staircase that leads you back to the Lobby.
While you're on the first floor of the Legends Guild, you can either go up the west ladder, or the east ladder. If you choose to climb the west ladder, you will be brought to the Legends Guild shop of useful items. Talk to Siegfried Erkle to see the Shop's Stock.
- "Mithril Seeds" can be used to make those flowers that players can be seen holding. Simply right click on the package of seeds and click "Plant Mithril Seeds". You can then choose to pick the flowers or not.
- The "Dusty Key" can open a gate in the Taverley Dungeon which leads to some blue dragons.
- The "Maze Key" will allow you to enter Melzar's Maze, which you encountered during the Dragon Slayer quest. It's not very useful as Legends are in the higher levels.
- Now, the "Dragon Right Half Shield", the second part of the Full Dragon Square Shield. It costs 750,000 coins. Once you have both halves of the Shield, you can take it to an anvil and hammer the two halves together. This requires 60 Smithing.
- Finally, the honourable Legends Cape. Put it on and display to others that you're officially a Legend.
If you go back to the first floor, then climb the east ladder, you will be taken to the very useful Legends Guild Bank. As usual, you can access your bank by simply right clicking on a banker and clicking "Bank Banker".
Below is a picture of both:

Now that you've been to the top floor, you should try out the Dungeon. It features a very nice training area, including Giant Bats, Pit Scorpions, and Shadow Warriors.
Climb down the ladder, then down the staircase. Now go down the other staircase on the west side of the lobby. You will appear in the underground dungeon of the Legends Guild.
First off you will encounter giant bats flapping around; there are about three of them (level 27).
As you go deeper you will find Pit scorpions (level 28). There are many of these Scorpions scattered around in this area.
As you go around the metal fence, you will be at the end of the Dungeon. This area features Shadow Warriors (level 48) which are very good training experience. There are more then enough for everyone to fight, but at times it might get crowded. The Shadow Warriors are known to drop the elusive "Dragon Left Half" more than any other monster, making it a well-used training spot.
heroes' guilde

The dungeon is the place to go to if you have just arrived at the Heroes' guild. It contains coal, mithril and adamant rocks which are available for you to mine. If you have level 85 mining, then at the far end you can even mine from two rocks containing runite ore.
The dungeon also contains a single Blue dragon (Level-111). It is a good training spot for rangers and mages due to it being surrounded by a fence, especially if you are in need of a few quick dragon bones or blue dragon hides. You can hide behind the fence or the pole for the dragon to not attack. Down near the end of the dungeon is the Fountain of Heroes; here you can charge your amulet of glory (enchanted Dragonstone amulet) by dipping it into the fountain. The amulet of glory is a useful piece of jewelery with four charges. Each charge can teleport you to either Draynor Village, Edgeville, Karamja Banana Plantation, or Al-Kharid Palace. When you run out of charges you can simply dip the amulet in the fountain again to refill it. If you have more than one amulet of glory in your inventory, it will charge all of them.

The Heroes' guild is one of the more famous guilds throughout RuneScape; some historic players reside here. The mighty Achietties guards the door, allowing only the great to enter. The ground floor of the Heroes' guild is the focal point of the guild, containing a statue of Arrav and Camorra. You can gain access to a small woodcutting area, the first floor, and the Heroes' Dungeon from this room. The woodcutting spot contains many evergreen trees, a good area for low-level woodcutters.
The first floor is possibly the main center of attention at the Heroes' guild; the first floor contains a prayer altar, where you can offer yourself up to the mighty god, Saradomin. It also contains three ladders leading to the second floor, and also houses Helemos, who will sell you two of the mighty weapons within the dragon arsenal.
Helemos' Shop, the "Happy Heroes' H'emporium" is the only shop in RuneScape that sells Dragon maces and battleaxes.
Talk to: Helemos

- Dragon battleaxe: 200,000gp
- Dragon mace: 50,000gp
The second floor of the Heroes' guild has a prayer altar where you can recharge your prayer. There isn't much else to the upper floors of the guild, and it is more of a spot where you could just go to and chill out.
fishing guide
Out of all the other guilds, the Fishing Guild requires the highest level to enter. If you drink a fishing potion, you can enter at level 65. Alternatively, you can eat an admiral pie to get you in when you are level 63 Fishing. You are able to teleport to this location upon completion of the Lunar Diplomacy Quest. Another way for a direct teleport is by using the Necklace of Skills which will also teleport you to the Fishing guild, aswell as various other guilds. The fisherman guarding the door into the guild also supplies the Fishing Cape of Accomplishment to players with 99 Fishing.
In the Fishing guild, there are two docks which you can fish from (north and south docks). In each of these docks, there are many Fishing spots. Depending on which ones they are, you can use a lobster cage, harpoon, or big net. In addition, there is a range which you can use to cook, a bank, and a store that lets you buy and sell raw and cooked fish and other useful Fishing items.
The ground floor has a fishing shop, many places to fish, a range, and a bank (which is also useful for cooking food, because, unlike other bank floors you can light fires on this one). In addition, near the entrance of the Guild (west of the range), there is a harpoon, big fishing net, and lobster cage spawn.

In the northern docks there are Men (level-2), and there are many Ducks (Level-1) swimming around the water, some of the Ducks have groups of baby ducks following them around. Each of the docks has a different number of Fishing spots, which appear and disappear at random. There are two types of Fishing spots in the Fishing Guild. The big bass, swordfish and sharks can be taken to Canifis, stuffed, and mounted on the wall of your houses' skill hall.

In this Fishing spot (left), you can catch either lobsters (40 Fishing and lobster cage required), tuna (35 Fishing and harpoon required), or swordfish and big swordfish (50 Fishing and harpoon required).
In this Fishing spot (right) you can catch mackerel, leather boots, seaweed, leather gloves, casket, oysters (16 Fishing and big fishing net required), cod (23 Fishing and big fishing net required) and bass and big bass (level 46 and big fishing net required), or sharks and big sharks (76 fishing and harpoon required).

Economy of runescape
The economy in Runescape is mainly based around its items. Raw materials gathered through various skills such as mining, fishing, and even wood cutting, are then made into other items such as cooking the fish, or smithing the ores collected. Those items in turn are then traded or sold, used for quests, or even in combat to heal, defend or attack. Players can also kill monsters for the items they drop, some are rare and worth a lot of money. Before January 2008 players were able to play with the fluctuating prices of various items to turn huge profits, when an item was being sold for cheap they would stack up on them and then sell them when they went back up, however this has been fixed and now it’s a lot harder to do.
Runescape Stat Changer, Change Stats
You should be careful when using a stat changer program, don’t go overboard and change all your character’s stats to 99 when you’re only level 5! This will trigger your account as you’ve obviously used hacks on your character. If you must use a stat changer for your Runescape character just make sure your character is safe!
Many sites claim to have a working Runescape Stat Changer, but mainly they are all lies, they either don’t change any stats or your account will be banned or stolen. To download the Runescape Stat Changer, and more hacks visit this website, Runescape Hacks.

Would you like Runescape cheats, hacks, glitches, bots, guides, and more?
Runescape was officially released in early 2001 in its Beta form and has continued to grow since then and become one of the most popular games around. Runescape was even recognized by Guinness World Records as the World’s Most Popular MMORPG.
Runescape has great customization when it comes to the toons so you can choose hair, clothing, personality and many more features of your avatar. This means you can pick what your character looks like and the skills and certain features that you will have when you begin playing.
Once your personalized character is created, you will be able to start leveling up in the world. For many players, this is part of the fun. There are many quests you can do to gain more experience and gold and items that your RS character will use.
Runescape is free to play but if you want to move forward and advance in the game beyond the free level, you can purchase a premium membership for $5 per month. This is a small fee to be able to do more in a game that you love and many people who play for awhile decide the investment is for them.
Runescape has over 160 servers as well as many private servers located all over the world so there are plenty of opportunities for you to find to play.
You can find servers in:
UK
US
Canada
Netherlands
Sweden
Finland
Belgium
Brazil
Mexico
Ireland
Norway
Denmark
France
New Zealand
Gameplay of Runscape is simple enough for new players but engaging enough for gamers who have been around the block a time or two. There is a wide range of skills to choose from and the game uses a real-time combat system. There is even PvP action for you to enjoy.
You can download Runescape for yourself from the official website and begin the adventures now. It’s easy to do and there is no risk since you don’t have to pay anything.
Choosing Your Runescape Skill
When it comes to playing Runescape, you need to know something about your skills and how to choose the right ones. Ultimately, the best skill is the one that you enjoy most and really want to do and since everything is a good choice in Runescape, you can’t technically go wrong.
All of the RS skills are good in some way. You just need to learn the right ones for your needs and the best way to do this is to learn a little more about each one.
Here are the Runescape skills to choose from:
Fishing
Combat
Agility
Farming
Firemaking
Crafting
Each of these skills will affect your gameplay in a different way so part of choosing your skills will depend on what you want to achieve with you play. For example, combat skill helps increase your chances of winning in battles and will help ensure you can survive any battle you come across.
As you gain more experience in the game of Runescape, you will learn more and more about each class and each skill, making it easier to choose the right skill for your needs each and every time.
Of course skills and professions are not all that the game is about. Just like many MMORPGs, economics will play a big role in your game experience as well.
Runescape Economics
If you’ve ever play an MMORPG, you know that money plays big role in the game. Most all of these games are designed with some type of system for economics. Runescape is no exception so it serves you well to learn about this early on, if possible.
The economics of Runescape work very much like real life so it can help you to grasp the concepts and how things work. But it is important to know that money can’t buy everything and certain rare items or other benefits will have to be worked for, no matter how much money you have.
Inflation will happen in the Runescape environment just like it does in the real world and just how much this affects you can often depend on what server you’re on.
The prices and values of certain items can also vary from server to server so if you want to make profits on your sales and buy items at good deals, you need to keep up with the current market.
You can find things such as:
Fish
Ore
Coal
Bones
Raw meat
And more all from killing RS monsters and each of these items has value to someone. If you can’t use it yourself, or if you have all that you need, you can sell it for profit. Learning to leverage this can greatly increase the amount of gold that you earn in the game.
How rare an item is can also affect its pricing. What may not seem valuable to you as a new player can end up worth a great deal if you find out it is a very rare item that people may be seeking. You can also learn to play this to your advantage to earn more money within the game.
While it is a virtual world with virtual currency, there are many things that can be learned about the game from the real world. If you learn how to properly play the economics, you will rarely have to worry about having the things you need and want for your characters.
Barbarian Assault
Chaaarge! Deep beneath the Barbarian Outpost strange creatures are spawning into an horrific tide of weird bodies. The barbarians believe that the gods have placed them there as punishment for the sins of the people of RuneScape. Do you dare face the Penance?
These barbarians are unusual in that they have adopted a rigid military structure to reflect how much they have atoned for their sins. The casual observer will note, though, that there are not many barbarians ranked above private...
In Barbarian Assault you and your friends take on this strange terror that breeds beneath the Outpost, working as a team to fight through nine waves of the Penance before coming face-to-eyeball-stalk with the Penance Queen.
Location
Barbarian Assault location Barbarian Assault can be found in the Barbarian Outpost north-east of the Tree Gnome Stronghold. If you have an Agility level of 37 or higher you will be able to use the shortcut in the north-east corner of the Stronghold, otherwise you will have to arrive there from the south, via Baxtorian Falls.
You can also teleport to Barbarian Assault by using the games necklace.
Requirements
There are no particular requirements to play Barbarian Assault, but you will be set upon by an increasing number of stronger and stronger creatures, so those with higher combat skills will be at an advantage.
Recommended Items
You do not need to bring anything with you to play Barbarian Assault, but good armour and a melee weapon capable of controlled, aggressive, defensive and accurate combat styles will be useful. As you cannot take your own arrows or runes into the caves beneath the Outpost, you should bank them before coming. For the purposes of ridding yourself of such items, you can find a deposit box in the entry hall.
Getting Started
Anyone that wishes to pit their strength against the Penance must first be briefed by Captain Cain. Cain is one of the highest ranking officers at the Outpost, and his advice to fresh recruits should always be considered.
Note: Captain Cain will talk for a fairly long time before he will allow you to descend into the caves below, but it is advised that you take careful note of everything he says.
The first thing to know is that Barbarian Assault is a team game: if you cannot play as a team, you will not get far. Each team is composed of five members who will work together to defeat each wave of the Penance.
After your briefing with Captain Cain, you can descend the ladder to find the recruitment rooms. There are two ways to start a game of Barbarian Assault:
Go to the room marked '1' in the lower level. One player must pick up a recruitment scroll and 'use' it on the other players to sign them into the team and a role, then click 'Write-role' on the scroll yourself to choose your own role. Once all five people have signed up and the recruiter heads down the ladder, the game will begin. There are ten rooms marked with a number, each of which corresponds to a different wave. If you leave the activity you can come back and go straight to the wave you have reached.
Go to the large room marked with an arrow, this is the quickstart room. As you enter this room you will have to sign up for a role. A game will automatically start once five people have signed up and at least one person has signed up for each role.
Each player will take one of four roles, with the fifth player choosing to 'double-up' on one role.
The Horn
When you enter the game you will all be given a horn with which to call out instructions to other members of your team. If you don't communicate you will find it very difficult to do well.
The interface in the top-right corner of your screen will show a few essential pieces of information.
This symbol indicates which wave of the assault you are currently in. There are ten waves of the assault, and the Penance Queen appears in the tenth.
This symbol tells you what you have been told to do. See below for more details.
The 'mouth' icon tells you what you need to shout through your horn. See below for more details.
The horn icon tells you who you are providing instructions for and who is providing your instructions.
In order to make the most of your team, you will need to regularly update your team-mates with correct instructions. The attacker's horn will inform the collector of the colour of egg to collect, and the collector's horn will inform the attacker of the combat style/spell/arrow type to use. The healer's horn will inform the defender of the type of food to bait Penance runners with, while the defender's horn will instruct the healer on which poison to use on the Penance healers.
It is absolutely essential to get used to using the horns, or you will quickly find yourself bogged down in a tide of the Penance.
The Horn of Glory
The Horn of Glory interface Players can also give out instructions to any other player on their team by using the horn of glory, which can be found in the south-east corner of each chamber. Because it is quite out of the way, it is unlikely that anyone using the horn of glory will be able to attack the Penance fighters and rangers, collect eggs, lay bait for the Penance runners or poison the Penance healers.
To make use of the horn, simply click on it. This will bring up a large interface.
On the left side of this interface you will see a list of what everyone should be doing. On the right, you will see an option for each role. Click on an option on the right-hand side and you will use the horn to call out your instruction to whoever has the appropriate role.
Because you have five team members but only four roles, you may find it useful to have your fifth member (who has the same role as another player) use the Horn of Glory or the egg launchers when they have finished their tasks.
Attacker
The attacker in Barbarian Assault has a fairly straightforward job: it is their task to kill the Penance fighters and rangers that pour out of the caves in the north of the chamber. Of course, it's a bit more complex than just that, as the Penance randomly become immune to certain combat styles, spells and arrows. In order to kill the fighters and rangers, you need to use the correct method; the collector should use their horn to tell you what to do.
The attacker only needs to bring an appropriate melee weapon or bow. Runes and arrows will be provided from the dispenser in the south of the chamber, marked with the red 'sword' symbol. If you take runes, you will receive up to 50 air, earth, fire, water, mind, chaos, death and blood runes; if you take arrows, you will receive up to 50 bronze, iron, steel and mithril arrows.
The attacker should use their horn to shout instructions to the collector.
Defender
The defender's duty is to eliminate the Penance runners. Runners will normally make their way through the cavern from the entry points in the north to the exit in the south. They can only be killed by being lured onto the traps in the east and west of the cavern. The defender can also build barricades across most of the Penance entry points.
To lure the runners into the traps, the defender will need to use either worms, crackers or tofu to lay a trail for the runners to follow. This trail should end on the trap itself to make sure that the runner pauses there long enough to be cut into tiny pieces by the trap. Unfortunately, the runners are fickle, and will often change the type of food that they desire; sometimes they may even ignore the bait and simply run for the exit. The defender will be told what food they need to use by the healer.
Key areas in Barbarian Assault
The defender can collect supplies of the bait foods from the vending machine marked with a blue 'shield' symbol.
The traps are not terribly well built, so after killing two runners it will need to be repaired. To repair a trap, simply use a hammer on it while you have logs in your inventory; alternatively, right-click on the trap and select 'Repair' while you have a hammer and logs in your inventory. You can find a hammer and some logs in the north of the cavern, as shown in the map above.
Barricades can be built by using a hammer on the barricade spot while you have logs in your inventory. A barricade will prevent the Penance from coming in through that entry for a period of time.
The defender should use their horn to shout instructions to the healer.
Healer
The healer has two jobs to do in Barbarian Assault. Firstly, it is up to them to make sure that no one dies in the caverns. Secondly, they must poison the Penance healers.
To heal other players, the healer must collect an empty vial from the dispenser in the south of the cavern marked with a green 'cross' symbol. This vial must then be filled from the pool of green liquid across from the dispenser. The healer may then use the vial on the players to heal them. Note that the healer can only have one vial at a time.
The healer can heal themselves and restore their run energy by drinking directly from the pool.
To poison the Penance healers, the healer must collect poisoned worms, tofu or meat from the dispenser and use them on the Penance healers. The Penance healers are highly adaptable and will only be vulnerable to certain poisoned foods at certain times. The healer will be told which food to use by the defender.
The healer should use their horn to shout instructions to the defender.
Collector
When Penance creatures die they leave a mass of eggs behind. These eggs can be used as effective weapons against the Penance, but they are very unstable. It is the collector's job to pick up the correct eggs at the correct time.
The collector will be told which colour to pick up by the attacker. If the collector grabs the wrong colour of egg, the egg will explode and do a small amount of damage.
Eggs can be loaded into the egg launcher. See below for more details.
The collector should use their horn to shout instructions to the attacker.
In addition, the collector can take green and blue eggs to a converter (next to the dispensing machines) and try to change them for another type. A green egg will be converted to a red egg and a blue egg will be converted to a green egg. The chance of success depends on the level the collector has reached (see the Upgrading your Barbarian Assault skills section below).
Note
To find out more about the various Penance creatures, you can go up to the Barbarian Assault entrance hall and look at the statues.
The Egg Launcher
There are two egg launchers in each cavern, on top of the pillars in the middle. The eggs that the collector gets from dead Penance creatures can be fed into the egg launchers allowing any player to fire them at the Penance.
To fire the egg launcher, simply click on it then select a type of Penance creature and a type of egg to fire. If you have any of those eggs loaded and one of the creatures is still alive, you will automatically target a Penance creature and fire the egg at them. It couldn't be simpler! There is also no penalty whatsoever for using the egg launcher and any team member can use it regardless of their role, so don't hesitate in doing so.
Each type of egg has a different effect: Green egg
The green egg will poison any Penance creature that it hits. Like all poisons, it will eventually wear off.
Red egg
Red eggs are explosive and will inflict immediate damage to the target Penance creature. The explosion will also damage any nearby Penance creatures.
Blue egg
Blue eggs implode on contact with Penance creatures, which will briefly stun their target. This will leave them unable to move or attack for a short period, will reduce the Penance's combat stats, and do a small amount of damage.
The Penance Queen
It is a good idea to take the Queen book with you when you reach the tenth wave. This includes all the instructions you should need to defeat her. You can get a Queen book from the table in the tenth wave recruitment room.
There are nine 'normal' waves of the Penance to defeat, but the tenth and final wave could not be called ordinary by any stretch of the imagination. It is during the tenth wave that your team will encounter the mighty and terrifying Penance Queen.
The cute and cuddly penance queen In the hidden caverns in which the Penance spawn it is the Queen's duty to ensure that there are enough runners, fighters, rangers and healers to ensure her safety. She does this by releasing dozens of Penance spawn. These tiny creatures will naturally evolve into the larger and more dangerous creatures that you will face in Barbarian Assault. If a spawn receives no orders from the Queen, they will assume that there is no Queen and evolve into one. In this way, the Penance are always certain to have a Queen to rule over them.
The tenth wave of Barbarian Assault begins in an entirely different cavern, although initially the attack will be the same. Your team must defeat the usual combination of runners, fighters, rangers and healers before the Queen will appear.
The Queen cannot be defeated by any single player. Nor can she be killed by normal means: she will shrug off arrows, swords and spells; traps are too small to concern her; she is immune to all of the usual poisons; green, red and blue eggs fired from the launcher will have no effect. To kill the Queen you must construct omega eggs; the collector starts by picking up yellow eggs.
The yellow egg is quite harmless to the Queen initially. To make it into a weapon you must pass the yellow egg from player to player, adding spikes, poison and heat before it has a chance of hurting the Queen.
The yellow egg is laid by the Queen. It must be picked up by the collector who will then pass it to the healer by using it on them.
The healer must take the yellow egg and use it on one of the green pools scattered around the cavern to poison it - the healer's pool in the south will not work. They must then pass the egg to the attacker by using it on them.
The attacker must take the poisoned egg and add spikes to it. The attacker can get spikes from the mushrooms that grow around the edge of the cavern. They must then pass the egg to the defender by using it on them.
The defender must take the poisoned and spiked egg and use it on the lava to heat it enough to harm the Queen. This is now the omega egg. They must then pass the omega egg to the collector by using it on them.
Once the collector has the omega egg it can be loaded into an egg launcher and fired to devastating effect.
Of course, nothing is quite so simple: the players will have to contend with the Queen while doing this, as well as the distraction of the many Penance spawn that scuttle about the floor around her. Penance spawn can be killed by anyone using any form of attack.
Hint: If you're finding it difficult to remember the order in which to pass the egg around, simply remember CHAD (collector, healer, attacker, defender) - there was a mighty barbarian called Chad many years in the past, when the Penance first appeared, who devised this method of treating the eggs, and so the barbarians remember him always by following this same method.
Rewards
In the waiting rooms for Barbarian Assault, you will find a switch that determines your reward for playing through the waves. This switch can be used to change between 'XP' or 'points' rewards: put simply, you can choose to gain additional skill experience, or you can choose to gain a Barbarian Assault currency that can be exchanged with Commander Connad for items.
XP rewards
To receive XP rewards, you need to have a penance horn or a master penance horn in your inventory or bank. These can be obtained for free from Commander Connad, but a master penance horn can only be obtained if you are level 5 in any of the Barbarian Assault roles.
As long as you set the switch in the Barbarian Assault waiting rooms to 'XP', you will find that your penance horn charges up as you play through waves in Barbarian Assault (more charge is awarded for completing the later waves). Right-click and 'check-potential' your horn to see how much charge your horn currently holds.
With charge on your penance horn, you will automatically receive double the amount of XP when completing the following skill tasks:
Firemaking with logs
Mining ores
Completing agility courses (not including Werewolf Skullball or the Agility Pyramid)
When receiving double XP from a skill task, your penance horn will lose some of its charge. The amount of charge spent depends on the activity and your skill level. Generally, the higher your level, the longer your charges will last. 'Check-potential' your horn to see how much charge remains, and refill it by playing waves of Barbarian Assault.
Points rewards
As long as you set the switch in the Barbarian Assault waiting room to 'Points', you will gain honour points for completing waves. You may 'spend' these honour points by talking to Commander Connad, who can be found in the Barbarian Assault entrance hall, near Captain Cain. With these points, you can choose to upgrade your Barbarian Assault skill levels, purchase equipment or gamble your points.
Upgrading your Barbarian Assault roles
If you intend to save up for some of the more expensive items, you would do well to upgrade your various Barbarian Assault roles. This will make you more effective in whatever role you choose to improve; for instance, upgrading your collector role will enable you to hold more eggs in your pouch so that you can be more efficient.
Obviously, the better you are in each role, the faster you can work your way through each wave, and the faster you will earn more honour points.
This table summarises the advantages gained with each level in each role. Everyone begins at level one in each role:
Role Level 1 Level 2 Level 3 Level 4 Level 5
Attacker +1 damage on Penance +2 damage on Penance +3 damage on Penance +4 damage on Penance +5 damage on Penance
Defender Increase range that Penance runners search for food Increase range that Penance runners search for food Increase range that Penance runners search for food Increase range that Penance runners search for food Increase range that Penance runners search for food
Collector Pouch holds 2 eggs
Cannot convert eggs Pouch holds 4 eggs
70% chance of converting eggs Pouch holds 6 eggs
80% chance of converting eggs Pouch holds 7 eggs
90% chance of converting eggs Pouch holds 8 eggs
100% chance of converting eggs
Healer Able to heal 100 life points per potion Able to heal 150 life points per potion Able to heal 200 life points per potion Able to heal 250 life points per potion Able to heal 350 life points per potion
If you manage to attain level 5 in any of the different roles, you will see a subtle change to the role icon that circles your player's feet during a game of Barbarian Assault. You will also be able to upgrade your penance horn to the master penance horn for free from Commander Connad. The master penance horn has all the abilities of the penance horn, with the addition of an emote when you select it and 'Call'.
Equipment
There are several items unique to Barbarian Assault that you can purchase from Commander Connad at the price he lists.
Click here to read about the different weapons and armours you can purchase from Commander Connad.
It is also possible to pay Commander Connad to paint your abyssal whip, should you have one in your possession. The abyssal whip can be painted green, white, yellow and blue. A painted whip is untradeable, but has no effect on its potency in combat.
Should you wish to return your abyssal whip to its original colour, simply use a cleaning cloth on it. A cleaning cloth can be made by using Karamja rum on a piece of silk, or you can buy one from Tamayu in Tai Bwo Wannai village after the Tai Bwo Wannai quest.
Gambling your points
Commander Connad has a wide selection of extra equipment that he is willing to offer as a gamble. To gamble your points, simply select one of the three gamble options and you will receive a mystery item - this could be almost anything, from steel arrows to a dragon chainbody.
To gamble points you can elect to spend 10, 20 or 30 points. Gambling 10 or 20 points will give you random items, but if you want to have a chance of winning anything like a dragon chainbody, you will have to gamble 30 points. Of course, the odds of winning a dragon chainbody are comparable to the odds of Zamorak deciding to give up his evil ways...

Why do we have this rule?
Rules of RuneScape
RuneScape is played by millions of people from a great many different countries and a wide range of cultural backgrounds. The RuneScape player community is much like the larger, real-world community: while most people within it are honest, courteous and respectful of others, there are a small number of individuals whose behaviour has the potential to alienate or offend. It is for this reason that we have an Offence System, which has been designed to help protect our players from this disruptive minority.
If, in the course of play, you come into contact with another player whose behaviour you consider offensive or aggressive, there are a number of options available to you. The first is to add the player to your Ignore List, or adjust your chat settings, so they cannot continue to bother you. Most minor incidents can be dealt with in this way, and neither you nor Jagex will need to take any further action.
Sometimes, however, you might encounter a player whose behaviour is particularly offensive. In such cases, you can use the Report Abuse feature to report the player to the Jagex Player Support team. Player Support will then investigate the incident, and if the reported player is deemed to have behaved inappropriately, or broken any of our rules, appropriate action will be taken to minimise the chances of that player causing further disruption.
Occasionally, innocent players might find themselves falsely accused of committing an offence, perhaps because they made an innocuous comment that was misinterpreted by another player. For this reason, reported incidents will be investigated thoroughly, and any evidence will be carefully evaluated, to ensure that innocent players are not given unwarranted penalties. Players who feel that they have been falsely accused of committing an offence should submit an appeal via the account management page.
The RuneScape rules are organised into three categories: Honour, Respect and Security. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with these rules before playing RuneScape.
Notes and Objectives
The notes interface To open your notes interface, click the icon in the bottom-right of your screen. This remarkably simple system enables you to leave up to 30 notes for yourself, each of which can be up to 50 characters long.
For further customisation, you can right-click any note to give you the option to edit it or to change the colour of the text.
To add a note, click the 'plus' symbol in the top-left; to delete a note, select it and click the 'Delete' bar. If you'd like to delete all of your notes, you can right-click on the delete bar and select 'Delete all'.
Important Note
You should NOT use this to store PIN numbers, passwords, personal information or any other sensitive information. The note-taking feature has been made unavailable to those players who are most at risk of revealing personal information.
The best use for the note interface is to remind yourself of your goals, dates and times for clan events, and so on.
Objectives
The objectives interface Objectives are tasks you wish to complete or remind yourself to do, and can provide a good incentive to do so. You can set skill goals or quest goals, and each will have information about what you can do when you reach those targets.
There are two ways to set an objective for yourself:
Right-clicking skills or quests
By right-clicking a skill in your skills tab, or a quest in your quest tab, you will see the 'Set objective' option. Clicking this will set it as your current objective.
Random objectives
In the objectives interface, you'll see a button marked 'Random Objectives'. When clicked, it opens up a window with six random objectives to choose from, all based on your skill levels and a few other factors.
The Camera
The camera determines your viewing angle into the game. You can adjust it using the arrow keys on your keyboard.
The left arrow key rotates the camera view clockwise, while the right arrow key rotates the camera view anti-clockwise.
You will have to adjust the camera to get a good view of your surroundings and all the possible objects you can interact with. Using the camera properly will ensure you do not overlook important items. In the images above, the player has used the left or right arrow key to rotate the camera in order to see the fountain and areas behind, in front and below their character.
To adjust the viewing height of the camera, press the up arrow key to tilt the camera downwards or the down arrow key to tilt the camera upwards.
The image on the right hand side shows how tilting the camera upwards allows for a much wider viewing area.
Almost all items and objects have some form of action associated with them, so make sure you are thorough when examining your surrounding environment.
Movement
Traversing RuneScape can be achieved by using your mouse. For single-button mice, move the mouse to where you want to go and click the button. For mice with two or more buttons, move where you want to go and click the left mouse button.
The 'X' indicates your character's destination If this is done correctly, your character will start moving and a small yellow 'X' will flash briefly on the spot where your character will stop.
You can make your character run to a spot by holding the 'CTRL' key on your keyboard before clicking where you wish them to move.
If you wish to move around quickly, you can set your character to run for as long as there is some running energy available. This feature can be turned on through the option screen or by clicking the run energy status globe next to your minimap. Read the Options section for more information.
You can replenish your run energy by right-clicking on the run button or status globe and selecting 'Rest'. If you do so near a musician, your run energy will replenish even faster.
You can also move around by clicking in the compass view at the top right-hand corner of the game window. When you click on a location in the compass view where movement is allowed, a red flag will appear, indicating where your character will stop.
Starting Area
Starting area wall A vast wall bounds the edges of Misthalin, hemming in Lumbridge, Varrock and Draynor Village - the area considered to be the 'starting area'. Guards keep watch at a number of gaps in the wall, warning anyone with a total skill level of below 60 that they are about to cross into more dangerous areas. Adventurers of a higher level are free to pass without incident.
A similar warning will be given to any lower-level player who enters a dungeon that leads out of the starting area.
Dangerous Areas
The warning system As you walk about RuneScape you will eventually come across some dangerous areas. These will be marked by the warnings that pop up as you try to enter them, like the warning to the left. Once you become familiar with these by visiting those locations several times you will be able to turn them off
Fish Flingers
If you spend time around Catherby or the Fishing Guild, then you’ll occasionally find expert fishermen wandering around, who will be happy to give you more information about Fish Flingers and teleport you to Isla Anglerine. The competitions run every 90 minutes, with the island’s waiting area opening five minutes before each competition starts. You don’t need to bring any equipment, and there is no need to store any items in the bank before playing.
What makes the island ideal is the schools of unusual fish subspecies it attracts. With the tackle box provided, can you find the ideal tackle for each type of fish? Should you use worms or crickets as bait? Which hook is best? How far from the shore are the largest fish? Are they at the docks or perhaps the beach?
Select your tackle and cast your line, then refine your technique to land more and bigger fish than your competitors. There’s everything to play for as you accumulate medals and awards for various feats. Make sure you use your time in the competition wisely, though, as to give everyone a fair chance the expert fishermen have limited each avid angler to ten competitions a week.
As well as a healthy dose of raw fish and raw Fishing experience, with time, you’ll also gain the opportunity to purchase tackle boxes, items that should make fishing trips a more organised affair.

In other news...
Rune guardian pets from the Rune Mechanics quest will now change colour when you use them on any Runecrafting altar but Ourania. To get a new, ‘blank’ rune guardian, talk to Clerval after storing your current guardian in your POH menagerie.
Rune guardian pets are also able to channel the energies of the four element altars (air, water, earth and fire) into infinity robes (hat, top and bottom) to change their colour too. These can be changed back to normal by using them on your rune guardian pet.
The number of pets you can store in your player-owned house menagerie has been increased from 10 to 15, but only if you've built a mahogany pet feeder and you have a consecrated, desecrated or natural pet house.
You can now store the Helmet of Trials and Mask of Dragith Nurn, both from The Blood Pact, in your POH costume room.
After completing the Making History quest you can now re-obtain mjolnirs. You can buy a replacement key after completing the quest to allow you to find another mjolnir.
You can use extreme Herblore potions in Clan Wars, providing the ‘Potions’ option is enabled by the organiser and the ‘Dangerous’ option is off.
Any players who had built multiple Shattered Heart statues in their player-owned house will find that they've been removed. As soon as you rebuild the statue in your study, the statue will be rebuilt to its previous state. If you had already removed a duplicate statue, any progress will have been lost.

Runescape Magic Guide
The Spell Book
This is where you’ll be casting all of your magical spells from; the Spell Book. By clicking on the book icon to the right of your screen, it will bring up a list of all your magic. Depending on how many spells you’ve learned and the number of runes you’re holding, you may see 2 different colored symbols:
Colored-in Icon: You have a high enough magic level and the required Runes to cast the spell.
Blacked-out Icon: You can’t use the spell until you reach a high enough level, or you don’t have the required Runes.
When you hover over a spell’s icon, you will see some important info about it, such as the required Runes to cast it, a description of the spell, and the needed magic level to cast it. In the picture, it shows how many runes I’m holding at the time, and how many I need to cast the spell. The first number is how many Runes I have, and the second is how many are needed to use the spell. I have 5 Nature, 5 Water, and 5 Earth Runes.
RuneStones, or Runes for short, are imbued with magical powers from the land, and they were created many ages ago by the ancestors of RuneScape. When you hold enough of a specific combination of Runes, you can cast a magical spell. Runes can be found throughout RuneScape, lying on the ground, looted from enemies, and crafted using your RuneCrafting skill. They can also be bought from Magic Stores such as the ones in Varrock, Port Sarim and the Magic Guild.

Staffs
Staffs can be a Wizard’s best friend during battles (and for walking long distances!). There are 3 main kinds of Staffs: Elemental Staffs, Battle Staffs, and Mystic Staffs. There are also special Staffs that you can obtain from monsters or other quests.
Before explaining those kinds of staffs, there is some info that you should know. First, there are 2 basic staffs: Staffs and Magic Staffs. Staffs are just like a regular carved stick, and they add no bonuses to your stats. Magic Staffs add a slight amount of Magic Attack & Defense, but they have no special abilities.
All Staffs will allow you to continually use an attack spell on your enemy until it dies, or you run out of Runes. To use this option, go into your Fighting Style menu while you are wielding your staff. Near the top on the right side you’ll see a spell button; click it to select your choice of several elemental attack spells, ranging from low to high. You’ll now attack with that spell, rather than with a melee attack.
Elemental Staffs include Air, Water, Earth and Fire. They can be bought at Zaff’s Staff Shop in the northwest part of Varrock for 1,500gp each, and they will be equal to an infinite number of that type of Rune when the staff is wielded. So, if you use a lot of one type of Rune, it would be wise to buy that kind of staff. Each of these add 10 to both your Magic Attack and Defense bonuses.
Battle Staffs are much like regular Elemental Staffs, but they have a Charged Orb attached to them. Battle Staffs are much stronger than regular staffs, and they will still allow you to use an unlimited number of Runes of that type. The Orb can be Crafted with glass, and then you need to cast the appropriate Charge spell on its Obelisk to power it up. Then just attach the Orb to the Staff to get a Battle Staff.
Mystic Staffs are actually just enchanted Battle Staffs. They are much stronger than normal staffs (comparable to a Rune Longsword), and still take the place of a Rune. To get a Battle Staff enchanted into a Mystic Staff, you first need to complete the Scorpion Catcher Quest. Thormac the Wizard, located south of the Seers Village, will enchant your staff for 40,000gp.
Special Staffs can be obtained from a quest or a monster.
Staff of Iban - Received after completing the Underground Pass Quest. This allows you to use the Iban Blast spell when equipped. Adds 10 to your Magic Attack and Defense bonuses.
God Staffs - These include the Staff of Saradomin, Zamorak and Guthix, and you can choose one after defeating Kolodion in the Mage Arena. When wielded, you have the ability to use their specific God spell: Saradomin Strike, Flames of Zamorak, or Claws of Guthix. They also add 6 to your Magic Attack and Defense bonuses.
Lava Staff - This staff is a rare drop from the Kalphite Queen, and it will give you an unlimited amount of Fire and Earth Runes.
Mud Battlestaff - This staff is a rare drop from the Dagganoth Kings on Waterbirth Island, and it will give you an unlimited supply of Earth and Water Runes.
Slayer Staff - Bought from any Slayer Master. Used to cast Magic Dart to kill specific Slayer Monsters. Provides 12 to your Magic Attack and Defense bonuses.
Ancient Staff - Can be bought from Elbis for 80,000gp after completing the Desert Treasure Quest. Provides 15 to your Magic Attack and Defense bonuses.
Ahrim’s Staff - Part of Ahrim the Blighted’s set. Requires 70 Defense and Magic to use. Provides 15 to your Magic Attack and Defense bonuses.
Obsidian Staff (Toktz-mej-tel) - You can buy this using TokKul from the Fight Pit equipment shop for 52,500 TokKul.
Lunar Staff - Can be bought from the Oneiromancer after completing the Lunar Diplomacy Quest. Allows for autocasting attack spells, and it has better magic attack than regular Elemental staffs (+13 Magic Attack), as well as a +3 Prayer bonus.
Void Knight Mace - This weapon can auto-cast Claws of Guthix, and can be bought from Pest Control for 250 Pest Points.
Wands are another type of Mage weapon, which you can buy from the Mage Training Arena using Pizazz Points. These are particularly useful, as they give decent Magic Attack and Defense bonuses, and you can autocast regular spells with them.
One particular note about wands, is that you must own them in order before being able to move onto the next one. for instance, you can’t use a higher-up wand before using a Beginner Wand.
Here are the Wands in order:
Beginner Wand - Adds 5 to your Magic Attack and Defense bonus. Requires level 45 Magic.
Apprentice Wand - Adds 10 to your Magic Attack and Defense bonus. Requires level 50 Magic.
Teacher Wand - Adds 15 to your Magic Attack and Defense bonus. Requires level 55 Magic.
Master Wand - Adds 20 to your Magic Attack and Defense bonus. Requires level 60 Magic.
Drinks & Potions
If you want to temporarily raise your magic level by 2-3 points, you can buy a Wizard’s Mind Bomb from the Rising Sun bar in Falador. Depending on your Magic level, it may raise your Magic 2 or 3 points. It will cost 2gp and it only lasts a short while, but if you need an extra magic level it can help.
You can also mix your own Magic Essence Potion with your Herblore skill, which adds +3 to your Magic level temporarily. It can be made at level 57 by mixing a Starflower and a Gorak Claw in a vial.
Magic Potions can be made using your Herblore skill as well, and it adds +4 to your Magic level for a short time. It requires level 72, and can be made with Lantadyme and Potato Cactus.
——————————————————————————–
Using Magic
Before you begin to use some Magic, you should gather all the Runes you need to cast the spell you want to use, by either buying them, making them with your RuneCrafting skill, or fighting enemies. You should also bring any magic items discussed before, if you want those bonuses. Now once you’ve found a target, choose your attack spell and click on your opponent to cast the spell.
When Spells Don’t Work
Sure, everyone has a bad spell-casting day once in awhile, and if you’re trying to cast a newly-learned spell, you may miss your enemy and the spell won’t work. If this happens, you will still use the Runes needed to cast the spell, and you will earn the experience for trying to use it.
Other Types of Spells
Of course, there are other different kinds of magic spells to use, but you need to reach a high enough level to cast them. Depending on the kind of spell, you need to use it on a specific target. For instance, you can only cast Teleport spells on yourself, and an Enchant spell is only used on rings and amulets. For more info about different kinds of magic, check the Other Kinds of Spells section.

The Spell List
There are a great number of spells to use in the RuneScape world, some of which can only be used by Members. For your reference, here is a list of magical spells with their important information.
Attack Spells
This type of spell is what you’ll probably be using in combat (if you’re a Mage). It’s best to wear gear such as Robes or any of the equipment outlined above, which is specifically designed for a Mage. Wearing armor such as Platebodies and Helmets not only make you more suceptible to magical attacks, but will decrease your ability to use your own attack spells.

21 Low Level Alchemy 3 Fire, 1 Nature
43 Superheat Item 4 Fire, 1 Nature
55 High Level Alchemy 5 Fire, 1 Nature
60 Bones to Peaches 2 Nature, 4 Water, 4 Earth
Bones to Bananas will cause any bones in your inventory to become edible Bananas. This is useful for when you’re low on health and need some food in a hurry, although it isn’t a very commonly used spell.
Bones to Peaches is similar to the “Bones to Bananas” spell. It will turn any bones in your inventory into Peaches, which heal 8 hitpoints. Although, you can only use this spell once you’ve boght the Bones to Peaches spellbook from the Mage Training Arena.
Low Level Alchemy will turn an item into the amount of gold it sells for in a General Store, while High Level Alchemy will yield the amount of gp it sells for in a specialty shop. If you’re trying to High Alchemize large amounts of a certain item, it’s best to put the item into Bank Notes and cast the spell on the notes. It only alchemizes 1 item at a time, but it’s much faster than having to run back to the bank!
Superheat Item will act as a Furnace and smelt a bar of ore for you. Just cast the spell on the ore of the bar you wish to make (if you want to make a Mithril Bar, cast it on a Mithril Ore).
Enchantment Spells
This kind of spell can be cast on Rings, Amulets, and certain Necklaces with gems inside. First just craft the item, and then cast the correct Enchant spell on it:
Level 1 Enchant - Sapphire Rings, Amulets and Necklaces.
Level 2 Enchant - Emerald Rings, Amulets and Necklaces.
Level 3 Enchant - Ruby Rings & Amulets.
Level 4 Enchant - Diamond Rings & Amulets.
Level 5 Enchant - Dragonstone Amulets and Rings.
Level 6 Enchant - Onyx Amulets and rings.
After you enchant your Amulet, Ring or Necklace, it will be powered up, bringing out magical abilities.

Teleportation Spells
There are 2 different kinds of Teleportation spells: regular Teleport spells, and Members-Only Teleother spells. Teleport spells will teleport you to a location, while Teleother spells will teleport another player to a location. Teleport spells that require a quest include:
Ardougne Teleport - You must have already finished the Plague City Quest.
Watchtower Teleport - You need to complete the Watchtower Quest.
Trollheim Teleport - You need to complete the Eadgar’s Ruse Quest.
Ape Atoll Teleport - You must complete Awogowei’s dish from Recipe for Disaster.
Teleother Spells are only available on Members servers and will allow a player to teleport you to another location. Of course, you need to give permission for them to use the spell on you, and you must have the Accept Aid option (in your controls menu) set to “Yes” for it to work. A menu will pop up asking if you want the other player to teleport you and you’ll be able to choose “yes” or “no.”

Runescape Mining Guide
Mining Ores
Now that you’ve found a place to mine, you can either jump right in and click on a rock to mine from, or you can prospect the rock. When you prospect a rock you will search for any ores inside and determine what type of ore is in the rock. This could take some time, so it’s best to learn what color each different rock will be when it has ore in it. Now you can click on a rock to mine from it, and your character will keep mining until you obtain the ore.
Mining Gems
From time to time you may find an uncut gem while mining. These can be crafted, and are valuable to anyone working on the skill. Gems can be cut with a chisel to make them more valuable when sold to a store, but most people would prefer uncut gems to work on their crafting. There’s a greater chance of mining a gem if you are wearing a charged Amulet of Glory, but finding a gem can still be difficult.
See the below “Gems” sub-section for more information.
Dwarven Stouts
If you need a quick “level-up,” a Dwarven Stout is just the drink for you. Stouts will raise both your mining and smithing levels by 1 for a short amount of time. They can be bought from the Rising Sun Bar in Falador for 3gp, so stock up on them if you plan on using many stouts during your mining career.
Mature Stouts & Beer
As a reward from the Forgettable Tale (of a Drunken Dwarf) Quest you will get 2 Mature Dwarven Stouts which will increase your Mining and Smithing levels by 2, not just the ordinary 1 level. When Brewing Beer there is a chance that it will become Mature and give extra bonuses. To make it more likely that it becomes Mature you can add “The Stuff” which is something you can buy as a reward from Trouble Brewing.
Powermining
This is also known as “Drop Mining.” Powermining is when you rapidly mine ores on drop them solely for the purpose of gaining quick experience. Generally, players will powermine ores that are easy to mine, such as Iron, Copper, Sandstone and Granite. These ores respawn quickly and are easy to obtain.
——————————————————————————–
Pickaxes
Miners that are more skilled have the ability to use higher quality pickaxes which allow you to obtain ores more quickly when mining. Pickaxes range from Bronze being the lowest quality, and Rune being the highest, but they are rather expensive.
Pickaxes can be bought from Nurmof’s Pickaxe Shop, which is found in the Dwarven Mines. There are two entrances to the mine: the first being in a building northeast of the east Falador bank, and the second being to the south of Ice Mountain (located north of Falador). The shop itself is found to the west of the entrance. You must go around the twisting passage, and the shop is north of the General Store.

Bronze 1 1gp
Iron 1 140gp
Steel 6 500gp
Mithril 21 1,300gp
Adamantite 31 3,200gp
Rune 41 32,000gp
Repairing a Pickaxe
From time to time, your Pickaxe head may become loose and happen to fly off of the handle while you’re Mining from a rock. If this happens, just pick the Pickaxe Head up and reattach it to the handle.
A Pickaxe can be damaged beyond use if you mine from a steaming rock, and you will be unable to mine with it. Bring your Damaged Pickaxe to Nurmof and use it with him so that he can fix it for a fee.

Rocks & Ores
Of course, we can’t forget the main part of mining; the ores! Each ore can be found in a specifically colored rock to match the ore, and when a rock is full of the ore it will change color. Instead of prospecting each rock, it’s best to remember what each rock looks like, in order to make mining go much quicker.

Gems
While mining rocks, you may happen to mine a Gem. Gems can be used to make various objects such as jewelry or bolt tips, and come in a variety of types. Regular gems, including Sapphires, Emeralds, Rubies and Diamonds can all be mined from regular rocks containing ore; the most common ones being Sapphires. If you’re a Member and wearing a charged Amulet of Glory, you’ll have a better chance of mining gems.
There are also other kinds of gems, including Opals, Jades and Red Topazes which can only be mined from the Shilo Village rocks. Once you complete the Shilo Village Quest, you will be able to use these rocks to mine all types of gems.

Special Ores
Some of the ores that you’ll mine in RuneScape only have a certain purpose, such as being used in a quest. Others have unique uses instead of being able to be smithed into armor and weapons.

Sandstone 35 1kg - 30
2kg - 40
5kg - 50
10kg - 60 Sandstone is currently only used during the Enakhras’s Lament Quest. It is pretty easy to mine and can be powermined for fast experience.
Gem Rocks 40 65 Found in Shilo Village. You can mine any gem (except Dragonstone) from these.
Granite 45 Tiny- 50
Small - 60
Medium - 75 Granite is currently only used during the Enakhras’s Lament Quest. If you have a high enough mining level it is possible to effectively powermine it for quick experience.
Lunar Ore 60 - Used only during the Lunar Diplomacy Quest.
Mining Notes
A higher mining level will make it easier to mine bigger chunks of Sandstone. You can also break the chunks of Sandstone with a chisel. For example a 5kg piece would break into two 2kg and a 1kg. You can only carve granite during the quest. Chiseling sandstone does not give any crafting experience.

Ore Respawn Times
Each ore in the game takes a certain amount of time to respawn, or reappear so that you can mine it. Generally, the higher-level ores take a longer time to respawn than lower level ones, and the number of players on a server also effect ore respawn times: the more people on a server, the quicker an ore will respawn. The following is a chart of approximate respawn times for ores:

Mining Notes
Timing spawns on perfectly empty servers without the aid of a private server is technically impossible, and as such these are approximated times.
In the case of rune ores, accurately timing the spawns becomes extremely difficult, if not impossible, on lesser populated servers as the times differ by up to a minute between spawns due to rapidly changing sever sizes. As such, these times are based on the underlying pattern, and were loosely checked for accuracy.
